Great War study day in 2015

Today I was talking to Dr Martin Watts about a Great War study day that he is proposing to hold in May next year for anyone interested in the subject. Having enjoyed researching the St Gregory’s Memorial, he intends to explore this period in Canterbury’s and Kent’s history further. So as well as hoping to hear from more descendants of those named on the St Gregory’s War Memorial at his lecture on Saturday 29 November and thereafter, he is going to put on a study day looking at ‘How the Great War changed Kent’. This is likely to involve several short lectures on what happened to the family – men, women and children – in the first few years after the Great War ended, as well as hands-on workshops looking at different primary sources. The details will be sorted out shortly, and hopefully an outline plan of the day will be available at his November lecture.
